I typed out the title 'REDEMPTION IS SURVIVAL' and formatted it to be the correct size for Final Cut Pro and added outer glows. I wanted the word 'DEATH' to flash up in one of the layers to conform to the supernatural convention of things e.g. ghosts, demons, flashing up/appearing out of nowhere. At first, I tried it out by putting it behind 'SURVIVAL' which I had enlarged, however if the word was to flash up then the audience would not be able to notice it because 'SURVIVAL' was so big.I moved 'DEATH' and changed the outer glow so the red was bigger and more vibrant.
As the original titles was white with a red glow, and 'DEATH' looked very similar to this, I changed the glow's colour to white so it looked separate and would catch the audience's attention.
I tested a different font - this one is Hattenschweiler. I liked this as it looked bold and daunting, however if it were to flash up it is difficult to read in just a second.
I tried this one called Herculanum but did not like this as it did not conform to either supernatural or horror title fonts.
I returned the font to the original as I thought I should keep it all the same to make it look neat. I also tried out slanting the text, however I thought it might look unprofessional.
I changed the glow to a greyish pink and put it to 250%. I liked this as it grabs your attention however it looked too faded so I lowered the glow level.
I changed the Noise of the glow too and I liked this effect, However, I thought that if this were to be put into Final Cut Pro, to the audience it may look like the title became pixelated so I put the Noise back to 0.
I also changed the size of the glow to see which would be the best for 'DEATH'.Then I lowered it to 32% but did not like this as it did not stand out as much.
I made the glow bigger and also altered the opacity of the glow (which I changed back to red) to 75% so it did not look too harsh.
Then I went back to the 'REDEMPTION IS SURVIVAL' titles and changed the opacity of the glow to 100% so they stood out more.
I tested out different colours for the actual word; I tried black because that colour denotes death. Also, the black blended in with the black background so it would be difficult to read the word in a second.
So I decided to change the colour to a dark grey, however this was still just as difficult to read.I also tested out red but felt that this looked unprofessional.
