Continuation of initial editing

First I took the footage edited in the last session of editing and cut off parts that were unnecessary or if a clip was too long and repetitive, reducing the length.

I then started looking at clips to see if they needed to be re-timed for a supernatural effect. I also looked at clips that could to be cut up and placed in different locations to speed up the pace of editing in the trailer to build suspense, completing this to create a nice build of tension with no audio stimulation.

Next, I put in black transitions and added the appropriate titles- "when evil sees you"  and "redemption is survival"- in simple writing at first to symbolise where the finalised titles will be input, relating to the storyboard.
Again, I went through the length of the footage formulated and edited so far- a length of 1.25 minuets- and cut down clips further to enhance shots such as those with special effects in them and shots such as the one shown below signifying the sin gluttony to the audience.

Experimenting with the clips, I then tried out taking the final clip where Pride asks what she can do to make it all right, and I put a black screen overlay to make the audio a voice over rather than diegetic sound. I then put a fading transition onto the previous clip to fade into blackness. This effect, however, didn't really work and looked a bit odd so I removed the black overlay and left it as the original footage for the moment. The problem at this stage when editing the start and end of the trailer is that there was still footage needed to be collected, even if it was only four shots in total.

I then started experimenting with effects and colour tones of specific shots. Below you can see I added a low key lighting colour overlay to make the scene look darker and suit the genre more accurately.

Using a spotlight tool  I tried to enhance the feature of the demon priest walking past the window, the spotlight following the figure as it passes the Lust couple in this shot.

At this point of editing, the development needed to be completed includes:

  • adding more effects and perfecting editing so far
  • imputing the additional footage and editing that
  • taking the final shot of the demon priest and applying visual effects to it
  • creating and applying sound
  • creating and applying titles
