Demonic Priest Special Effects

For the Demon Priest special effects, I have decided to make prosthetics and practice before filming. Below is my practical trial of the ideas that I have. Both of these effects will be used, however have been done separately for the practical.

The first practical that I carried out was the bone structure prosthetics. For this, I used liquid latex as a base, waiting for it to dry so that I could then seal the end prosthetics and use them when filming. I then used nose and scar wax to start building up the cheek and nose bone structural aspects of the demonic face. For the filming side of this, I will also apply a more defined brow line, however, being of a smaller head, and not the same brow structure, I will leave that to on the day of filming.

I then applied black and white tones to my face to add a sinking eye effect and a ghostly, demonic look. Below is the final product of this investigation:

I then experimented with different skin effects that could be created, added to the demon priests face to enhance the demonic aspect. The following product that I made was more gory than I wanted, however, the skin effect was appropriate, and I would keep the technique of making it, but use skin colour products, rather than reds and browns, to make it look more like dry and pealing skin than a burn mark.

To create this effect, I started by covering the target area with two layers of liquid latex. Once dried, I then used my fingers to pull holes in the material. Covering it again with another layer of liquid latex, and letting it dry, I powdered the prosthetic. I then added red and brown tone to the wound area, making it look like a burn, and then applied fake blood. The final effect is shown in the images below:

Combining the two ideas together, I feel more confident about doing the special effects on the day of filming now that I have practised in this investigation, exactly what I will create.
