Genre Decision

Annie and I have decided that our trailer will be of the supernatural and horror genres because horror is our favourite film genre, and supernatural can provide more story lines. By this I mean horror has the typical convention of killer(s) vs victim(s), and supernatural has conventions of ghosts/spirits/demons; which, by combining them, adds more depth and more a complex plot. For example, a killer demon who the victim is trying to destroy. This will be difficult as in horror films the victim can 'destroy' the killer by simply hurting/killing them/appealing to their sensitive side, but with supernatural creatures it is more difficult - therefore more entertaining - to destroy the killer creature as they are extra-ordinary. For example, in the TV series Supernatural, the two protagonists have to destroy supernatural creatures but different creatures have different weaknesses e.g. salt, iron, an ancient sword. The first 20 seconds of this video is a good example of when horror meets supernatural which is similar to what Annie and I would like to employ:
Another example in Supernatural - the supernatural killer kills the victims then carves an ancient mystical symbol on their chests.
Another example - a Valentine's Day episode where hearts were taken out of people and were also carved into.
