- Rated R warning at the beginning to warn younger audiences - professionalism
- Opening title: Production company - New Line Cinema - professionalism. Red & black effect with the lines running across links in with Freddy Krueger's infamous red and black striped sweater
- Non-diegetic narration - low, calm mode of address, subverts the chaotic storyline but conforms to the horror convention of killer (supposing this is the killer speaking) being eerily calm compared to the panicking victim.
- Non-diegetic background music is fast-paced but quiet so you can clearly hear the narrator and the characters' dialogue
- Key phrases said by characters to give away the storyline such as: "He was locked in a room with a girl who went in alive and came out in a rubber bag!" - this grips the viewer because they wonder how the girl died if it was not her boyfriend who killed her.
- The narrator also gives away parts of the storyline such as: "No one knows where he came from." which was said after the line above ^, links to how Freddy appears in dreams (though the audience do not know that yet)
- Then, one of the children's mother says "There is something wrong with you, you are imagining things." which reiterates how Freddy appears and disappears quickly and slyly.
- Key clips are shown such as Freddy's 'claws' coming out of the bath while the girl is asleep in the bath, Freddy appearing in the wall as the girl is asleep and another girl being dragged up onto the ceiling - each shows the audience that the killer (Freddy) attacks when they are asleep, however it is not made explicit and this persuades the audience to watch to find out how and why he attacks these people.
- Film's titles appears in the middle of the trailer to show the audience what this film is called. It appears again at the end, then around 1 second later the names of the producer and director and the production company appears. However, the release date
- This is a theatrical trailer because it is almost 2 minutes long but includes key phrases and clips providing the audience with enough of the storyline to persuade them (especially horror fans) to watch the film.
What I like about this trailer is the black and red colour scheme as that links to Freddy's infamous sweater. I also like the non-diegetic background music because it is fast-paced and makes the trailer seem more dramatic and scary. Additionally, short key phrases are added that provide the audience with a sufficient amount of knowledge but not enough to give away the entire plot - this, therefore, makes the trailer very persuasive. One thing that I do not like is that the release date is not mentioned, and this is disadvantageous because then the audience do not know when it will be out so they will not be able to watch it.
